Waste such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpeting and industrial plastic from around the world is salvaged and sorted to recover all possible nylon
A technical process is used to produce the purest polyamide granulate, so-called “Carpolactam” extracted and processed into nylon.
ECONYL® regenerated nylon is processed into carpet yarn or textile yarn.
Through a radical regeneration and cleaning process, the nylon waste is recycled back to its original purity. ECONYL® regenerated nylon is therefore exactly the same as pure nylon. This regenerated nylon is used as the pile for the printable carpet mat.
That the use of suitable nylon waste as a raw material can help reduce the need for newly produced nylon?
That, according to the manufacturer, the production of ECONYL® yarn can result in savings in energy and resource consumption as well as lower greenhouse gas emissions compared with the production of nylon from fossil-based raw materials. The extent of these savings depends on the specific conditions and calculation methods used.
That regenerated raw materials are used in the production of ECONYL® yarn. According to the manufacturer, this can result in differences in energy consumption compared with certain conventional manufacturing processes.
